Whitepaper: Cabinet Heater for Electric Vehicle
⏱ approx. 4 minutes
Project Challenge
Electric transportation alternatives are becoming increasingly attractive in cities, as the demand for individual mobility is greater than ever. This is why the French car maker Citroen developed the “Ami”, a compact electric vehicle with passenger compartment. Basically a covered and heated scooter that can be operated starting at the age of 15 (with an AM driver's license for Germany) thanks to its registration as a light electric vehicle. To provide end customers with the same comfort as in cars, additional heaters are required to temper the passenger compartment, as the electric engine does not provide any waste heat.
Project Goal
Development of a suitable, compact heating solution for integration into the ventilation system
Customer / Industry
Supplier, Special-purpose vehicles industry
Technical Solution
Two PTC Air Heaters of the series HRKK-V, designed for a supply voltage of 48V, which meet the required safety standards in vehicles thanks to PTC technology (no overheating even in case of failure).
